If I Stay- Gayle Forman!

.

So the book is about a girl named Mia, her family decided to go on a nice drive and end up in a car accident which leaves Mia in a coma. She is kind of in an out of body experience state and can see and hear everything going on around her. Throughout the book, there are "flashbacks" of sorts about her life previous to that point.

Amazing! Amazing! Amazing! The saddest yet sweetest book I have ever read! I am speechless when it comes to this book. Words cant explain how great this read was just please check it out for yourself! Watch my video on youtube to hear and see how much I enjoyed this! Http://www.youtube.com/HalfBloodPRincess... IT'sJUST AWESOME!

I loved all the characters and found every single one of them relatable and awesome. She seemed to have such a nice life and to have it all slip away was what was soo sad! The ending did however frustrate me a little as it was a cliffhanger but luckily there is a second book, (Where she went) which is a sequel and should reveal what happened.
It was such a moving book and it made me cry and not many things do that!!

5/5 stars!

Beastly- Alex Flinn

.

OMG! Asides from Harry Potter, (OBVIOUSLY) this is the most epic, best book I have EVER read! It was just soo cute and I can definitely see why it's being made into a movie. It has that typical movie line plot but not in a predictable way.
So first of all let me just say, sorry I have been away and not reviewing many books, a lot in my personal life has been going on. Anyways to this epic book!...

So we start off with Kyle Kingsbury, a typical blonde hair, blue eyes, perfect kinda guy. He only cares about him self and shallow doesn't even begin to cut it! He is just soo mean. So there is this witch at school (this isnt a spoiler by the way, its the basic plot so its important to know...) that he really messes with. (I won't spoil it in how he does, he just does.) And boy does he end up paying for it. He losese the thing that matters most to him in the entire world, his good looks and he is transformed into a beast. Basically he has two years to find his true love and they must love him back.

It's an epic love story and I really don't want to say too much about it because I don't want to ruin the experience of reading it but I HIGHLY recommend this. 5/5 stars!!

Withering tights- Louise Rennison.

.

The misadventures of Tallulah Casey is certainly right! Tallulah Casey is fourteen and a half and wants to be grown up. She feels that she is finally getting there by being sent to a performing arts college alone. From there she is living with dibdobs and the psycho stare-a-lot twins. She goes on a little adventure and trys to fall in love in her summer of love while discovering new friends and BOYS! Will she get her first kiss? Will she be able to stay at the Dother Hall and will her "corkers" ever develop? Find out in this HILARIOUS new series!

5 Frickin stars!!
First of let me just say this book was blooming fantastic! Full of fun, humour and intellect it was a perfect read. I loved the characters and the story! I thought this book was a great read for anyone but most definitely for english lassies like me! As you kinda have to understand the northern lingo in the book for it to not seem utterly outrageous. Excellent book, and 5 stars, I have nothing to criticize about this book apart from I wish it was longer so I could still be enjoying it lol! I couldnt put it down and spent a whole day straight just reading it and finished it within twenty four hours! A must read but I would recommend it for the summer. So you too can have a "summer of love" and fall in love with this book!

My new novel!!!

.

SO you probably didn't know this but I am currently writing a novel called "Sleeping in Stone" and planning the sequel "Concrete Angel". They will be part of a trilogy and I haven't decided on the last ones name yet but am leaning towards "Sparkling Angel". And now I am writing a new novel while that series is on hold. This is going to be more of an older YA and it deals with the serious issue of prostituion. Which is actually a subject near to my heart. I haven't decided of a name yet but will be trying to come up with one. Shattered seems to be the most fitting name at the moment or Broken. I want something really simple yet striking and something that deals with the plot.
So here is a little bit about the novel.
Jade is a normal 19 year old girl. Well, not really. Her mother is fatally ill and dying from breast cancer, her father left her years and years ago when she was born and she is left struggling to look after her family of 4 younger siblings. On top of this the family that once had everything is struck with a series of terrible events. Death after death, murder after murder. They lose everything. Jade is forced to find a way to look after her family financially after her mother's death and so one night leads to a life changing choice. She becomes a prostitute to the rich and famous but after a traumatic rape turns to drugs and ends up walking the streets, the only way to pay for her new found addiction, troubling family and her mother's hospital bill debts is to become a street hooker. Little does she know that one of her clients is closer to her than she thinks. It turns out the man she just slept with is her long lost father. Will he turn out to be her knight in shining armour? And as if things were bad enough she starts to fall in love with this man even after knowing his secret. Keeping it hidden she continues to take money from this man and sleeping with him until her mother's funeral. Will he find out the girl of his, unconventional, dreams is really his daughter he left when she was just a baby? Or will true love conquer all?

Sounds a bit sick really doesn't it? So please can you help me with a name for the book PLEASE!

The Betrayal of Natalie Hargrove- Lauren Kate.

.

NOTE: Pictures will be up shortly, blogger is being a BIATCH! :P x

Natalie Hargrove is so close to getting what she's always wanted. She's finally on the right side of the bridge, in the richer part of town, she has a gorgeous boyfriend and she is just about to be crowned Palmetto princess, prom queen. But when she gets caught up in the competion, she soon realises fate is not to be medelled with. When a prank her and her boyfriend pull on her competion for prom king goes terribly wrong, they are left to deal with the conseqeunces. Trying to hide what they have done whilst trying to frame it on someone else AND still win Palmetto princess and prince. Will it all be too much? Will she crack under the pressure? A story of love, enemies, regret, deceit and karma by the award winning, best selling author of the Fallen and Torment books, Lauren Kate.

To begin with I was really mixed on this book. I didn't like Natalie at all and thought she was a cheap rip off of Regina George from Mean Girls, she was the typical generic popular wannabe prom queen with the perfect boyfriend. I really started enjoying it around all the drama when she played a prank on her enemy and it all went terribly wrong. This book is about fate which I really liked and it really proved that what goes around comes around and I liked that message of it. I particularly liked the character Tracy because she was sort of psychic and she kept saying cryptic clues to Natalie. I liked the idea of the high school and how everything went and I liked the set up of the story but overall I felt the book could have been better. I give this book a 3.5 but closer to a 4 than a 3 simply because there was that something missing and I didn't like the beginning at all! Definitely worth a read and if you like Lauren Kate's writing style, you will love this. I think I just found a new favourite author and I can't wait to read Fallen and Torment which are next on my TBR pile.

Invasion- Jon S. Lewis

.

Absouletly amazing book. An action pakced, thrilling adventure. This book is full of jet packs, evil aliens, CHAOS secret agents and much much more. It truley is too good for words.
The book is about a boy called Colt. He starts off by going to a training acadmey for upcoming CHAOS agents. Shortly after he returns his parents are murdered. Colt finds out why and, in an effort to avenge his parents, gets into more than he bargained for. Microchips in the brain that turn innocent people into savage assasins is just part of his problems. Not to mention he has to juggle school and liking a cute girl Lily.

This book was completely fantastic. It was a great science fiction/fantasy and usually I'm not really into that stuff but this honestly has to be one of the best books I've ever read. The plot was amazing and had so many layers to it. The characters were easy to connect yourself to and get attached to and the writing was superb. I can say no faults with this story at all. A must buy AND a must read.
Plus there is a sequel coming in Jan 2012!!

A Girl's Guide to Falling In Love With a Zombie- Richard Denney.

.

Rebecca is in love with Lance... only problem is Lance is a Zombie and even when he was alive he wasn't that interested! She is keeping him safe from other zombies and taking him wherever she and her two other survivor friends go. All's well until Ryan, another survivor appears.

This book was great! It's by debut novelist and fellow youtuber Richard Denney (AKA Devvourbookreviews) and it's his debut novel. It was really well written and I really fell in love with Rebecca, the main character. The book is sort of her journal of events and it really describes her feelings for Lance, her zombie "boyfriend" in depth. It's really exicting and there are lots of times when you don't think she is going to make it. She is really in love with Lance but then another survivor Ryan finds them and she starts to having wandering feelings and begins developing a thing for Ryan. There is even a sexy bit, which I LOVED! Overall I give this book 5/5 and think that it was great.
I won this advanced reader copy in a giveaway and don't know if the book itself is actually out yet but when I have more information I will update you of the release date and where you can purchase a copy, and I suggest you do!
5/5

Ash by Malinda Lo.

.

Ash is a modern (Not really, considering it's set in what seems like a long time ago) retelling of Cinderella with a fairy twist! Aisling, otherwise known as Ash, loses her mother and father and is left to her evil stepmother and stepsisters. Her father left her stepmother in a lot of debt so to repay her father's debt she must become a serving girl to her stepmother. Ash meets a fairy named Sidhean who grants wishes for her...at a price! Then Ash meets the huntress and falls in love but she is bound to Sidhean.
This book was a bit strange for me, to begin with I really found it to be long winded yet intriguing and definitely worth a read. As I read on I found that the story really unfolded and became really interesting. I really enjoyed it because of the fairy twist and the love triangle (sorta). It is definitely worth a read, though maybe for the younger YA readers it wouldn't be so good because the language is quite formal and I found it to be a little bit confusing at times.
I rate this book a 4.5/5, definitely a great read. The story was great and a good twist in the Cinderella story. It wasn't that predictable like I feared it would be but I would have prefered a little bit more fairy parts. It was quite a short read and it took me about 3/4 days to finish. I felt like I couldn't put it down! Really worth a read.
4.5/5

Need- Carrie Jones

.

Need by Carrie Jones.

Zara is the new girl, she's just moved to Maine from Charleston and she isn't liking it. It's cold and snowy and she is living with her grandmother. Little does she know (though she soon finds out) she has a stalker and not just any human stalker, a supernatural stalker. He keeps following her and leaving a trail of gold dust. After a lot of research, Zara and  new friends Issie and Devyn find out **Semi Spoiler** that the "psyhco stalker" is really a pixie. In this book of pixies and weres will Zara ever be free? Will she give the man what he wants?
*Synopsis from the back of the book*
Pain shoots through my head. Fireworks, explosions. All inside my brain. The white world goes dark and I know what's about to happen.
Zara White suspects a freaky guy is stalking her. She memorises phobias and chants them when she is nervous. Ok, so she hasn't exactly been herself since her stepfather died. But moving to a freezing Maine town to stay with her grandmother is supposed to be the perfect fix- so her mum says. Except this plan of sending Zara away to stay sane? Yeah, not working. Turns out the stalker is not a figment of Zara's imagination. He's still following her and leaving behind an eerie trail of gold dust. There's something not right- not human- in this sleepy Maine town and all signs are pointing at Zara.

So, what can I say? Sounds pretty impressive right? WRONG! To begin with, the first three chapters or so, I found this book so boring. I put it down and only picked it up again because my sister forced me to! She recommended it to me so I had to read it as she doesn't really like reading so to get a recommendation from her and for her to give it 10/10 I knew I had to read it. Although it was boring and pointless, to me, it did start to pick up. The first couple of chapters are about her at her new school, making friends and enemies and such forth. I really started to get into it when the supernatural stuff started to be discovered by the characters. I thought that it did take a while to get there but when it did I thought it was fantastic and really couldn't put it down! It kept me hooked and wanting to read more and a couple times, and I know this is really sad, but a couple times I couldn't sleep at night because I wanted to know what happened next in the book. So my advice is if you're like me and find the beginning boring, please stick with it because it's a great story and a great adventure with good twists. Even though I predicted most of the twists and did find they were a bit predictable!
I have very mixed feelings on this book, but would recommend it to anyone who likes YA and supernatural stuff especially if you like faeries and pixies and whatnot. I give this book 3 out of 5 stars, simply because the beginning was too boring and long and the plot was a bit predictable. It was stilll enjoyable and a good read but not anything super special.
I have book two in the series, Captivate and will be reading that soon. I will continue with the series because I am very curious to see what happens. I also felt that the writing lacked description and left a lot up to the imagination which in some cases is quite good.
Overall an enjoyable read. Not bad. 3/5

The Beatrice Letters- Lemony Snicket.

.

In the meantime there will be a video review up on my youtube soon which will show you not only the outside but the inside of the book too which is very detailed and shows all the different pictures and styles in the book. Which is a must see as it is the best part of the book. http://www.youtube.com/HalfBloodPrincessVW )

No summary as I didn't really get what the book was about. All I can say is that this book is about letters between Beatrice Baudelaire and Lemony Snicket. That is all I could really make out from this book.

This book is sooo pretty! From the front cover to the inside. First of all you open the book to find no writing but like a case file sort of holder containing the copy of the book with no pretty cover or anything and a picture/poster which is double sided. Throughout the books there are pages with a part of one side of the picture which is very strange. Then there are different letters and sometimes little fold up letters. I particularly liked how the different letters were in different fonts and set out on different style pages. I really enjoyed reading this book and managed to read it in an hour which isn't too difficult as it is only 72 pages long. The pictures and trying to figure out the letters and decode them made this book interesting. If you have followed the whole "The series of unfortunate events" books, which I have not, then you might find this book less confusing and more interesting. Don't read this if you are looking for a book that makes sense.
This definately isn't for everybody but I certainly enjoyed it and found it really fun to read. I would recommend it as it is fun and really doesn't take up much time to read at all.
Overall a good bit of fun, I give it a 3.5/5.

Angel uncovered- Katie Price.

.

(Sorry for the small picture!! My apologises.)

Angel summer is a glamour model living every girl's dream. She is married to the hottest footballer and has the most trendy celebrity marriage. Her daughter Honey has just been born and everything is going perfectly for Angel, but is it?! This book see's Angel struggle with post natal depression, her husband's infidelity and has to make an agonising choice between her husband and another man. Along with all the pressures of being a new mother and celebrity. Plus dealing with some of the other psycho WAGs and ex girlfriends of her husband.

I started this book about a year ago but never finished it so decided to re-read it again and actually found it very entertaining! I was fascinated with the celebrity lifestyle aspect of the book and really enjoyed it. I did find it somewhat predictable though and the storyline was a dime a dozen. I feel as if the book was written by Katie Price herself (and that's not a good thing) instead of a ghost writer, though maybe that was the intention. I don't know but I wasn't impressed with the quality of the writing. I didn't connect with Angel the way you're supposed to. I found her annoying and bitchy which is never a good thing to feel about the main character when you're supposed to be feeling sympathetic for them and connect with them and understand what they are going through.
I would recommend this book to young girls, particularly british girls who know about the british celebrity and WAG scene. I would recommend this as a light read to take on holiday and enjoy while sitting by the pool.
3.5/5

Bleeding Violet- Dia Reeves

.

Bleeding Violet by Dia Reeves is all about a girl named Hanna. Her father passed away a year ago and she has mental problems. Her head is plagued with hallucinations and voices of her father. She lives with her aunt but decides to go and find her mother. But when she arrives in the crazy town of Portero she finds that not only does her mother want nothing to do with her, but the town is not what it seems. She wears all purple and makes a bet with her mother that if she can fit in and make friends in two weeks she can stay. Along the way she meets a boy (of course!) and has a crazy adventure

This book was great! It took me a while to read it but I didn't want to read it too fast because I wanted to continue it slowly and enjoy it before finishing it. I thought it was very well written and really descriptive without being overpowering. I love the characters and the main plot which was a love story. It wasn't a traditional straight forward love story which is what made it stand out and made it even more enjoyable to read. The strangeness of both Hanna and Portero made the story really interesting however sometimes it became a little strange and there was a lot of blood, gore and sex which might put people off who aren't used to and/or don't like a lot of those things.
I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who likes young adult fiction and mysterious/paranormal reads. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone under 14 though because of the sexual elements and psychotic themes. I found Hanna nearly influencing me to become a psycho but that might be because of my real life mental illnesses. (Depression and psychosis)
Overall a really good read and a really good book and I would highly recommend it as I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Though confusing in parts (which is the only thing not giving it a 5/5) it is still one of my favourite books of probably all time and I will definitely be happy to re-read it again.
4.5/5 stars.
