Books with Bridget

So this book is about a girl named Mary, she lives in a world after the "Return" and now she thinks her village is the last in the world. The village is surronded by Unconsecrated (Zombies). Mary's mother and father get taken over and turned into unconsecrated  and she is left to the mercy of the sisters. She soon finds out that the sisters hold some serious secrets! One day the village is breached and she has to find a way out. Is there a world outside the village?

INCREDIBLE. Absolutely amazing. I give it 4.5 stars simply because the begining was a bit slow and it took me AGES to read but I really enjoyed it. I was a really great book, Mary (the main character) was really relatable and I found mysefl yelling out loud whilst reading this book. Travis was a huge part of this story for me, whenever he was in danger I got really worked up and started shouting at it! I know I know how sad!! I absolutely loved the end. HIghly reccomend this book!

Lucette is just a baby, just a baby that happens to be cursed and threaten the kingdom's safety. The evil vampire queen has cursed her that when she turns sixteen and pricks her finger, the kingdom of Xandra will fall asleep every night apart from Lucette and Lucette will be alone in the darkness, plus she will sleep until sundown. Unless she finds true love to break the curse. You even get to choose the way the story goes.

I give this book 4/5 stars!
This was a really cool and inovative book where you could choose your own route. The story changed depending on what you chose, which I thought was a great idea. The story was a twisted retelling of sleeping beauty and it involved vampires. I have never read sleeping beauty so I thought it was a really cool story when I read this book. It was written perfectly and had that perfect balance between young adult and adult style writing.
I really enjoyed this book and highly recommend reading it!

Charlie Parker returns in the chilling new thriller from the Sunday Times bestselling author of THE LOVERS.

The border between Maine and Canada is porous. Anything can be smuggled across it: drugs, cash, weapons, people.

Now a group of disenchanted former soldiers has begun its own smuggling operation, and what is being moved is infinitely stranger and more terrifying than anyone can imagine. Anyone, that is, except private detective Charlie Parker, who has his own intimate knowledge of the darkness in men's hearts.

But the soldiers' actions have attracted the attention of the reclusive Herod, a man with a taste for the strange. And where Herod goes, so too does the shadowy figure that he calls the Captain. To defeat them, Parker must form an uneasy alliance with a man he fears more than any other, the killer known as the Collector

Ash is a modern (Not really, considering it's set in what seems like a long time ago) retelling of Cinderella with a fairy twist! Aisling, otherwise known as Ash, loses her mother and father and is left to her evil stepmother and stepsisters. Her father left her stepmother in a lot of debt so to repay her father's debt she must become a serving girl to her stepmother. Ash meets a fairy named Sidhean who grants wishes for her...at a price! Then Ash meets the huntress and falls in love but she is bound to Sidhean.
This book was a bit strange for me, to begin with I really found it to be long winded yet intriguing and definitely worth a read. As I read on I found that the story really unfolded and became really interesting. I really enjoyed it because of the fairy twist and the love triangle (sorta). It is definitely worth a read, though maybe for the younger YA readers it wouldn't be so good because the language is quite formal and I found it to be a little bit confusing at times.
I rate this book a 4.5/5, definitely a great read. The story was great and a good twist in the Cinderella story. It wasn't that predictable like I feared it would be but I would have prefered a little bit more fairy parts. It was quite a short read and it took me about 3/4 days to finish. I felt like I couldn't put it down! Really worth a read.
